Mrs Carol Owen, MBE

Mrs Carol Owen was founding Chairwoman of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. During her husbands tenure as Governor of the Cayman Islands Mrs Owen took over the seed of the Gallery from former Governor’s wife Monica Gore. Mrs Owen is herself a successful portrait and landscape artist.  She served as Chair of the Board during her tenure here in the late nineties and, with founding member and Director Leslie Bigelman, established the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. Her fundraising efforts, in particular a celebrated art auction of her works, were the beginning of  the Capital Campaign for the new National Gallery and Education Centre which is our home today. Mrs Owen is an honorary board member and stays in close contact with the Gallery.
