About the Artist
Mikael Seffer

b. 1974

Born in the United States, Mikael Seffer moved to the Cayman Islands as a child, an experience that left an indelible mark on his artwork. A self-taught artist, he began painting in earnest in the early 2000s, quickly developing a unique technique that combines paint, powdered pigments, and resin, which are manipulated by pouring and tilting the canvas. Seffer has shown his work at the Art@Governor’s festival, as well as frequently exhibiting with the Visual Arts Society, The Gallery at The Ritz-Carlton — Grand Cayman and at Kennedy Gallery in Grand Cayman. His work is featured in Art of the Cayman Islands, the Islands’ first formal art history (Scala Fine Art Publishers Ltd.: Fall 2016). NGCI exhibitions include 21st Century Cayman (2010), Our Story of Art (2013), and All Access (2015).
