Walkers Art Club

2021-2022 Student Exhibition

21 Dec 2022 – 31 Mar 2023

About this Exhibition

In 2021-2022, the National Gallery again pivoted our free youth programming into the digital space. With the resurgence of local Covid-19 cases in September 2021, the Walkers Art Club year began with a combination of live and pre-recorded virtual lessons, with in-person classes resuming in March 2022. Whether online or in-person, students received training in various art media and art historical theory, exploring a range of techniques, concepts and skills in the Susan A. Olde Art Studio and Exhibition Halls, all while making new friends.

The Walkers Art Club 2021-2022 online exhibition showcases just a selection of the exceptional work our students produced over the year. We extend our congratulations and gratitude to all the students, parents, instructors and staff who made the 2021-2022 programme another success. And of course, our sincere thanks to longtime programme sponsors, Walkers, for their generous support.

About Walkers Art Club

This popular extracurricular art education programme offers students of all ages and abilities weekly art classes to enhance skills and expose students to both local and international artists. Participants are instructed by trained arts educators and are encouraged to express themselves, emphasizing creativity and experimentation through age-appropriate projects, themes and skills. Additionally, students make regular visits to the Exhibition Hall, and their work culminates in the annual Walkers Art Club exhibition. The classes and course materials are free to students thanks to the generous support from Walkers.

As part of the National Gallery’s mission to meet the diverse needs of the larger community, the programme includes clubs at five levels: Foundation (5 to 7 years), Primary (8 to 10 years), Secondary (11 to 13 years), Teens (14 to 17 years) and Cayman Brac (8 to 10 years).
