Walkers Art Club

2022-2023 Student Exhibition

15 Sep 2023 – 31 Mar 2024

About this Exhibition

In 2022-2023, participants of the Walkers Art Club programme again received specialised training in various art media and art historical theory while making new friends and learning about Caymanian arts and culture. This year we have continued to provide a wide range of techniques, concepts, and skills in our education programming, using the well-equipped Susan A Olde Art Studio and the Exhibition Hall to embed these skills. Studio skills and taught concepts this year included weaving, book binding, linework, portraiture, perspective, figure drawing, ceramics and much more.

The Walkers Art Club 2022-2023 online exhibition showcases an exciting selection of the work our students produced across the year. We extend our sincere thanks to the instructors, students and guardians who participated, to Inclusion Cayman for their resources and classroom support and of course to Walkers for their ongoing sponsorship of this invaluable programme.

About Walkers Art Club

This popular extracurricular art education programme offers students of all ages and abilities weekly art classes to enhance skills and expose students to both local and international artists. Participants are encouraged to express themselves, emphasizing creativity and experimentation through age-appropriate projects, themes, and skills. Additionally, students make regular visits to the Exhibition Hall, and their work culminates in the annual Walkers Art Club online exhibition. The classes and course materials are free to students thanks to the generous support from Walkers.

As part of the National Gallery’s mission to meet the needs of the larger community, the programme includes clubs at five levels: Foundation (5 to 7 years), Primary (8 to 10 years), Secondary (11 to 13 years), Teens (14 to 17 years), and Cayman Brac (8 to 10 years).
