Curator’s Lecture

Press Release

The National Gallery’s new exhibition ‘Portrait of an Artist’ introduces the public to a diverse range of local artists and photographers. Through their own self-portraits in painting, sculpture, drawing and photography, they have reflected the diverse social make-up of the Islands’ and given the viewer an intimate insight into the life of its contemporary artists.

To accompany the exhibition a curator’s lecture is being held on Monday 16th August at 5.30pm. The lecture introduces the history and function of the self-portrait as a vehicle for analysis and self-expression and raises questions of identity, style and technique as well as exploring the social, historical and cultural issues surrounding this exhibition.

All are welcome to attend. For more information call the Gallery at 945 8111 or email curator.ng@candw.ky.
