Founded in 1997, the National Gallery celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017. To celebrate the annual fundraising gala was combined with an awards ceremony to recognise those who have helped make the organisation what it is today. The theme of the gala was futuristic, with the event entitled the Infinity Ball, to not only pay homage to the past but also look to the future and the endless possibilities we have as a Gallery and a community.

The event took place on Friday, 1 December 2017, starting at 6:30 pm and stretching into the night. In keeping with the theme, guests arrived in cutting-edge futuristic fashion and as one guest said “the future looks crazy but I like it”. The night started in the lower Exhibition Hall where guests were treated to music and welcome drinks, before spilling out on to the Breezeway and gardens for dinner and dancing. The award presentation, delicious cuisine, and the illuminated dance floor all contributed towards making it a night to remember. Proceeds from the evening will go towards NGCI’s education programmes and to keeping entry to our exhibitions and programmes free to the community. Once again the annual fundraising gala was a huge success and we can’t wait until 30th November 2018 when we get to do it all again!
