Cayman’s hottest new wedding venue is the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands

The contemporary cultural institution has a lot to offer; stunning architecture, cultural cachet, gorgeous sculpture gardens and galleries highlighting work by Cayman’s most recognizable artists.

If you haven’t been to the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI) — or to a wedding at a gallery, for that matter — you might think that the National Gallery is a strange place to stage this type of occasion.

“Many of our guests reacted that way when they saw our invitations. Both our local and overseas families were expecting to see a beach venue.” says Jennifer Ebanks, who got married at the Gallery last Christmas. But as Ms. Ebanks and others would attest, the National Gallery actually makes perfect sense as a wedding venue. “We wanted something different and unique – a place which honoured the Cayman Islands, where we met, and expressed a formal elegance. From the first moment we stepped into the Sculpture Gardens at the National Gallery we fell in love with the setting and its grounds. We could immediately visualize our day.”

For couples searching for somewhere unique the National Gallery has it all: a mixture of architecture and meaning, a blending of cultures and concepts, versatility, and a variety of colourful spaces.

Meegan Ebanks, manager of events and facility rentals at NGCI, says she has been extremely pleased by the influx of inquiries and bookings — spurred by word of mouth and gorgeous photos shared on social media sites. Revenues from facility rentals have helped to support free public programming and free admission at the National Gallery.

“It becomes really special here,” says Meegan Ebanks “the Gallery is a beautiful and unforgettable setting for weddings, civil ceremonies and receptions, and the exhibitions and sculpture gardens provide a backdrop for wedding photography which is second to none.”

Ceremonies can be held amongst the paintings from the National Collection, which provides an exclusive setting for you and your guests. After the ceremony, your wedding party can celebrate with drinks in the romantic sculpture gardens, followed by dinner and dancing under the stars.

The NGCI events team helps to guide couples through the planning process, assists with coordinating vendor arrangements, and works with couples to ensure that every detail of their day is managed with ease. “We felt continually reassured by the prompt and helpful answers we received to all our more detailed questions and requests.” says Jen Ebanks, “The events team went above and beyond to help us create our experience. Overall a stunning venue supported by a strong event team. The Gallery exceeded our expectations and we would have no hesitation in recommending the National Gallery for an event.”

The venue can accommodate small intimate ceremonies as well as larger parties up to 350+ guests. The facility is wheelchair accessible, has onsite parking, and is strategically located near many popular restaurants and hotels.

To top things off, all couples getting married at the National Gallery receive a year’s complimentary membership.
