Overview

The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, in collaboration with Cayman Art Week, invites submissions for Next Wave: Emerging Voices in Cayman Art, an open call exhibition dedicated to showcasing the creativity, perspectives, and talent of young artists aged 16–20. This exhibition aims to provide a professional platform for the next generation of Caymanian and Cayman-based artists, fostering early engagement with the contemporary art scene and encouraging artistic development.

Scope

This exhibition will feature a curated selection of works across a wide range of media, including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art. The goal is to highlight fresh perspectives and innovative approaches from emerging artists at a pivotal stage in their creative journeys.

Artists are encouraged to submit work that reflects their personal experiences, cultural identity, social observations, or imaginative explorations. The exhibition will emphasize originality, creativity, and conceptual strength.

All submissions will be reviewed through a formal selection process conducted by a panel of representatives from the National Gallery and invited arts professionals. Works will be assessed based on artistic merit, originality, technical skill, and alignment with the exhibition’s theme. Selected artists will be notified following the review period, and their work will be included in the final exhibition presentation.
