As Walkers Art Club 2025-2026 has now concluded, we would like to reflect on another marvellous year.  The club provided valuable opportunities for students to showcase their passion and creativity and a space that aided in the development of confidence, social skills and connections with others. A sincere thank you is extended to Walkers for their generous sponsorship, which makes this all possible.

Participants learnt numerous art techniques ranging from still life, two and three-point perspective, watercolour painting techniques, and observational drawing in our Susan A. Olde Art Studio. They also experimented with painting on black paper, positive versus negative space, lino block printing and charcoal. The students made visits to the National Gallery’s exhibition spaces to gather inspiration and learn about local artists, supporting the development of their artistic perspective and personal style.

The end-of-year physical exhibition for 2025-2026 is currently on display in the National Gallery’s Dart Auditorium, from 19 June – 16 September 2026. At the exhibition’s opening reception, we were delighted to welcome representatives from our sponsors, Walkers, alongside the students’ family and friends. Together we celebrated the children’s exceptional achievements and the community of Walkers Art Club.

Our online exhibition also showcases the creativity and talent of our students and can be viewed here: Walkers Art Club 2025-2026 Online Exhibition – National Gallery of the Cayman Islands

The Club aims to equip members with essential skills that can be applied to everyday life, including creativity, wellness, self-expression, a sense of belonging and the ability to embrace challenges. Parents of Walkers Art Club have stated “It’s so good for their self-esteem and confidence – seeing how much they enjoy exploring and expanding that creativity – my daughter says when she grows up she wants to be an artist and that’s purely because of what she has been able to do at Walkers Art Club and the sense of achievement and happiness she leaves with each week. Thank you all.”

Another parent shared, “My daughter was consistently excited to attend each session. The variety of activities kept her interest high, allowing her to explore different mediums like painting, drawing, and sculpture. She learned new techniques that she was eager to share at home, which showed me how much she was absorbing from the sessions. The exhibition where students displayed their work to family, friends & the community was a wonderful way to celebrate their achievements and boost their confidence. Overall, Walkers Art Club has been a rewarding experience for my child. She has grown in her artistic skills and has made great memories. Thank you for providing such a creative outlet!”

The opportunity for students to develop art skills and learn theoretical concepts lean into the Club’s mission to foster diverse and inclusive environments, cross-school friendships, and community.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Walkers for their generous support of the Club, which is now in its 26th year and continues to be free for all participants. Thank you to our instructors for creating and leading culturally-informed and engaging art lessons, to Inclusion Cayman for their support and guidance in the classroom, and to all our Club members and their families for their commitment and creativity.
