On Friday, 29 November 2019, we welcomed 300 guests to the National Gallery Sculpture Gardens for the annual costume gala. This year’s event was entitled “Night at the Museum” and encouraged guests to draw inspiration from the “life” that is hidden in great art. On the night, we were treated to a wide variety of creative costumes in homage to iconic works of art in institutions ranging from the Louvre to the Met, as guests brought their favourite pieces to life. Guests were treated to festival style dinning, live entertainment, an exciting live auction and dancing under the stars until the early hours.

The National Gallery’s gala serves not only as a night to inspire and celebrate the appreciation of art but also to raise essential funds that ensure our facility and programming remains admission free and accessible for all. This includes our offerings of 40+ educational classes, lectures and events that engage students from ages 3 to 103.

We would like to thank everyone that took part in this magical evening and look forward to seeing you at our next gala.
